Supporting Team HSS
At HSS, we often host and participate in events that support our mission and vision as an organization. Today I want to talk about two of those events that are coming up soon, and encourage you to participate if you can.
The first is BIKE HSS. This is a one-day cycling event taking place on Saturday, September 28, in and around Westchester County. The bike ride will begin and end at our very own HSS Westchester location, with 25-mile and 62.5-mile cycling routes to choose from. HSS family members, including many of our physicians, along with friends of HSS and local community members, are already registered to take part in the event.
This event supports our mission of providing the highest quality patient care to improve mobility and enhance the quality of life for all. I’m sure you’ve heard or seen our tagline – How you move is why we’re here – and BIKE HSS fully supports this notion. Funds raised from the event will allow us to continue to drive musculoskeletal research, provide the world’s best patient care and educate the next generation of leaders in the field.
For more info or to register, visit bikehss.org.
The second event takes place just two weeks later on Saturday, October 12 – the Lupus Research Alliance Walk with Us to Cure Lupus. HSS is once again a sponsor of this important event, and I am proud to serve as co-chair for the sixth year.
The walk is aimed at helping to raise funds and awareness for lupus research, which is something that is in line with what we do here at HSS in our Department of Rheumatology. We are committed to improving the lives of patients with lupus through our world-class care, cutting-edge research, education and support programs, and innovations. Through our participation in the event, we are helping to showcase how we are leaders in this area, as well as our commitment to our lupus patients.
You can get involved in the walk in any of the following ways:
- Start an HSS team with colleagues representing your department/area or with family and friends! Click here to create your own team (*all team names should start with “HSS” i.e. “HSS – Rheumatology” so we can calculate our impact)
- There will also be an HSS team of which I am the captain, and I invite you to join this team as a walker. Click here to join team HSS!
- As we did last year, we will be holding regular raffles with some great prizes. Keep an eye out for emails about when and how to participate.
Thank you in advance for your support of both events. I look forward to seeing many HSS family members represented at each!
